2006

Hi, my name is Kaiti. At the time I conducted this science project I was 12 years old. It was a good choice of topics for me personally, because  I  think evaporation is really interesting and I didn't have to wait and watch my project while experimenting.

I presented my project to judges at the regional Mid-Columbia Science Fair on March 9, 2006. I got an Award of Distinction for experiment design. I also won  3rd place for sixth grade life science and was a discovery channel award nominy.

I also took my project to the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair on March 31, 2006. I won a third place ribbon for sixth grade.

My Family

I have three relatives that live with me.  My mom, Jan, likes to show cats and she loves animals.  I have a 14-year-old sister named Stefani.  She was born December 31 and she goes to cat shows with my mom.  My dad Peter despises going to cat shows.  He loves sports and helps coach my basketball team.  My dad is really involved in our schools, also.  He is on the levy committee annd the PTSO.  I also have a grown up brother named Shaun, who lives in Beaverton, Oregon and a grown up sister named  Heather who lives in Seattle with her two daughters, Holly and Megan.

My Hobbies and Interests

I am really interested in sports.  I like to play basketball, volleyball, soccer, and  tennis.  My family has season tickets to the Yakima Bears games, so I watch baseball a lot.  I also  enjoy dancing and singing, although my sister insists I sing terribly.  I love to read and have read the second Harry Potter book about 30 times.  My favorite author is Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.  I love to play video games, especially Mario Kart Double Dash and Super Mario Advance 3.

My Plans for the Future

I plan to go through my remaining school years with an A average and hopefully graduate high school  with a scholarship to any college.  I would either like to go to Harvard, Oxford, or University of Washington.  I hope to become either a marine biologist, a teacher, or a botonist, and adopt two kids and  live in Northern California.

Self Evaluation of My Project
  1. How thorough and complete was my project?  My project was pretty thorough and complete, but I had a few loopholes in my procedures.
  2. What would I do differently if starting over again?  I would work harder on my report and information.  I would also make my experiment a lot longer.
  3. What major strengths does my project have?  My experiment design because I covered every possible constant I needed.
  4. What weaknesses or problems does my project have?   My data is the only big problem because the temperature chart didn't make sense.
  5. How worthwhile are my experimental results for the world?  They are very worthwhile because evaporation affects everyone in the world.
  6. What new skills did I learn or vastly improve during my project work?  I learned to type a lot better than I used to!
  7. In what ways did I enjoy my study and work?  I really enjoyed doiung my experiment because it was really interesting.
