Hi, my name is Audra. At the time I conducted this science project I was 13 years old. It was a good choice of topics for me personally because, I am concerned about our earth's pollution problems. Particularly in the soil and ground water. I presented my project to judges at the regional Mid Columbia Science Fair on March 13, 2003. I got an Award of Distinction for scientific thought. I also got an honorable mention. I also took my project to the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair on April 4, 2003. I got a participation ribbon and third place. My Family Cory is my mom. She is a nurse practitioner and works at a doctor's office. She helped me on my project by driving me to the soil company where I got an address of someone who had clay soil that I could use on my project. She also bought the supplies I needed for my project. Without her help I wouldn't have been able to complete my project. Troy is my dad. He is a mechanic at a concrete company and the manager of their shop. He helped me on my project by driving me to get the clay soil for my project, and by giving me all of the oil, antifreeze and gasoline that I needed. He helped me to complete my project accurately. Tori is my little sister. She is in the fifth grade. She helped me with my project by staying out of my way and not bothering me. If she hadn't done these things I would have probably been more stressed out than usual.
My Hobbies and Interests My hobbies include basketball, playing computer games, talking on the phone to my friends, and hanging out with them. I was on the "C" team in basketball, we were undefeated. When I talk on the phone I tend to play my computer games while I talk. When me and my friends are hanging out we talk about everything. I also like to read murder mysteries and just plain mystery stories. I am interested in rocks, psychology, and marine biology. I've had several rock collections but they all eventually end up back outside. Many people at my school tell me their problems and I listen and suggest things to them on how to solve their problems. I enjoy the ocean and think that the creatures under the sea are fascinating, I am even considering on taking it in as a career.
My Plans for the Future I plan to do a science project every year until I graduate. I hope to get a scholarship in high school to go to college. When I go to college I plan to graduate and start my career as a marine biologist or something to do with oceanography. I might also enjoy teaching young children about ocean pollution. As my career develops I hope to start a family and keep in touch with my best friend, Brittani J. When I retire I want to busy myself by gardening and keeping my mansion by the beach or in the county in shape.
