Project Report
Dedication I dedicate my
report to Reider Nettleship for all he taught me about golf ranging
from the basics to the expertise. He taught me the rules and
regulations of golf. He provided me with loads of historical and
modern day information. I learned about many different time periods.
Many different types of clubs would come out of our discussions. This
report would be nothing with out the help and supportiveness of my
dad.
Why I Chose This Topic I chose this topic because Golf is my favorite sport. I love it because you have to be very mentally
strong which allows a challenge, and I love challenges. Golf has always
made me feel calm and relaxed it swipes away all my thoughts allowing a
clean smooth swing. I play the sport a lot because it is my Dads
favorite sport and he has to take me along. I get to play about 3 days
a week. Golf is awesome you should try playing!!!
Introduction Have
you ever played golf? Golf is truly an exciting sport with many tough
aspects. You don’t just have to have a good swing you need to feel
confident about yourself and expect a good swing. That is why I wrote a
history on golf where you will find lots of different information
ranging from where golf began and modern day golfers. Learn some facts
and give golf a try with my report. You might feel more confident!!!!!
Where Golf Originated Most
people think that golf originated in Scotland. This is true the
earliest known reference was King James VI who later banned the sport
of golf. He said that “it kept his archers from their practice.” But
this did not affect the sport from developing in the Scottish hands.
Soon the sport was back to being legal. The first known rules were
written in Edinburgh in the year of 1744. Now people could be
recognized as modern golfers.
Some basics Golf is an outdoor
sport in which you hit a hard ball at a hole. I can be played with as
many as 4 people on a team this is call a this is called a four man
scramble you can also play with two players on a team or individually.
Another type of golf play is called a two man best ball where you take
that best score on that hole. The average 18-hole golf course is about
140 acres. Player’s equipment consists of a ball and a set of clubs.
There will be obstacles on the golf course called hazards. So if you
want to become a golfer then read my stuff!!!!
Masters The
Masters is a major golf tournament that is held at Augusta National.
Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts who wanted to provide a service to
golf by creating a tournament. The final decision was made in New York
at the office of member W. Alton Jones. Roberts proposed that the name
of the tournament should be called the Masters tournament but Bobby
Jones objected thinking it was too presumptuous. So the tournament was
called Augusta national for five years until Bobby Jones relented and
the name was finally changed to Masters. The Masters tournament is held
every year on the first week of April.
Jack Nicklaus Jack
Nicklaus is the best golfer there ever was. He has won 18 major
championships and has a record of 154 consecutive major tournaments.
Jack Nicklaus had turned pro in1962 earning $33.33 in his first
tournament. Jack was also the longest driver of his generation this
brought power. He was also one of the best clutch putters.
Tiger Woods youth age 0-3 Eldrick
T. Woods was born on December 30th 1975 in southern
California. His father Earl Woods was a retired U.S. Army lieutenant
Colonel, and his mother Kultida was a native of Thailand. Soon Tiger
started imitating his father’s swing. At age two Tiger putts on the
Mike Douglas Show against comedian Bob Hope. In 1979 He shoots a 48
over nine at the Navy Golf club in Cypress, California.
Conclusion Golf
has been around for many years. Since its origin in Scotland, Golf has
grown in popularity and technology with aluminum shafts and heads
instead of wood. From Bobby Jones to Tiger Woods, golf has become a
sport that draws talent and attention. You need to be mentally strong
if you want to succeed. I hope you enjoyed my golf report. So give golf
a chance!!!
Who Helped Me with My Project My
Dad helped me by providing with good information and supporting me. My
Mom also helped by providing me with the supplies I needed to create my
product.
How I Evaluate My Entire Project
(1) How thorough and complete was my project? I think that my report was pretty thorough and complete. But maybe I should have pieced it differently.
(2) What would I do differently if starting over again? I might have did a piece on the US open or the British open. Maybe I would have added a little more detail.
(3) What major strengths does my project have? It has what it needs to have. I think it talks about some history and aspects of how to play golf.
(4) What weaknesses or problems does my project have? It needs more detail and added information. Not enough history involved with my topic.
(5) What did I learn to do better during this project? (Type answer here) I
learned that I should add more detail. Piece it together in a different
way do my paragraph differently and how to work the computer.
(6) In what ways did I enjoy my study and work? I
enjoyed my study and work by learning about the game I love. I also got
to work on an awesome project that allowed me to do some cool products.

Who I Interviewed and What I Learned I interviewed my grandfather,
Carson Olafson on January 23, 2009 in his home in Yakima. I interviewed
him because he has always followed golf and is an expert on it. I
learned that 20 million people play golf, 25% are Women. A typical par
3 is 250 yards. The United States has up to 14,000 golf courses. My
grandpa said that he “had caddied for a Professional and how if the
golfer hit a bad shot he would blame it all on me. He was happy when the guy lost
