Introduction Football has
been around for over 100 years. Football is a great sport. Football is
outrageous and fun. The two main divisions in football are the National
Football Conference (NFC) and the American football conference (AFC).
In the AFC the divisions are AFC North, AFC East, AFC South, and AFC
West. In the NFC the divisions are NFC North, NFC East, NFC South, and
NFC West.
Penalties
Penalties are rules you need to
follow or you might lose field positioning. One penalty is
“clipping,” that is when you block someone in the back. Another is a
“facemask”, that is when you’re tackling someone you put your hand on
the facemask to pull them to them ground the. “Roughing the kicker” is
when the opposing team kicks a field goal or punts the ball after they
kick it, a guy tackles the kicker. “Roughing the passer” is when the
quarterback throws the ball and after he throws the ball a defensive
player tackles. “Too many players on the field” is when the offense or
defense has more than 11 players on the field. “Holding” is when the
offensive line is holding someone to block them. “Illegal man in
motion” is when you have more than one player in motion at a time.
“Offside” or “false start” is when a player goes over the line of
scrimmage before the ball is snapped. “Unsportsmanlike conduct” is when
you intentionally try to hurt a player. “Illegal man down field”is when
someone other than the tight end or the receiver is down the field more
than 5 on a pass play. The player (has to be over than 5 yards to be
the penalty). Delay of game is when there is a little clock that you
have to start the play before the clock strikes 0 and you go back 5
yards. Pass interference is when you interfere with the wide receiver
to catch the ball or the WR pushes off of the defender to catch
the ball. Illegal formation is when your formation is illegal.
Places in the NFL
In
the NFC East conference the Dallas is first place, New York Giants are
second, Washington Redskins are third and the Philadelphia Eagles are
fourth. In the NFC North the Green Bay Packers are first, the Detroit
Lions are second, the Chicago Bears are third and the Minnesota Vikings
are fourth. In the NFC South Tampa Bay Buccaneers are first, the
Carolina Panthers are second, the New Orleans Saints are third and the
Atlanta Falcons are fourth. In the NFC West the Seattle Seahawks are
first, the Arizona Cardinals are second, the San Francisco 49rs are
third and the St Louis Rams are fourth. In the AFC East the Patriots
are first, the Buffalo Bills are second, the New York Jets are third
and the Miami Dolphins are fourth. In the AFC North division the
Pittsburgh Steelers are first, the Cleveland Browns are second, the
Baltimore Ravens are third and the Cincinnati Bengals are fourth place.
In the AFC South division the Indianapolis Colts are first, the
Jacksonville Jaguars are second, the Tennessee Titans are third and the
Houston Texans are fourth. In the AFC West the San Diego Chargers are
first, the Denver Broncos are second, the Kansas City Chiefs are third
and the Oakland Raiders are fourth.
History
Before
they made hard plastic equipment they had no equipment. Then they made
leather helmets without facemasks. Then over time they made hard
plastic equipment. The two roots of football are rugby and
soccer. Football started over 100 years ago but the NFL started in
1920. There have been many great football players in the history of
football.
Conclusion
I chose football as my
independent project because it is my most favorite sport to play.
Football has been around for a long time. In that time football has
become one of the most popular sports in the United States of America.
John Elway is a great QB.

Who I Interviewed And What I Learned I interviewed Loren
Wood at Selah Washington on January 1st 2008. I chose Loren Wood
because he knew a lot about football and Grid Kids. He told me football
is one of the most popular sports in America, soccer and Rugby being
the two roots of football. He thinks of the best players of 2007-2008
season are Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Peyton Manning. Loren has taught
for 13 years and played football for six years. Loren’s favorite
football team is the Oakland Raiders. When Loren talked about his
personal experiences, he said football is a fun sport and its important
to have a good time.

The Products I Created
I made a miniature size football
field. I used green cardboard paper, a pencil, a white color crayon and
pictures from the Internet. In this game you try to move the ball
across the field by getting the questions right until you get a
touchdown which is six points. If you get a question wrong you try to
kick a field goal a field goal is three points. Each time you get a
question right you move the ball ten yards. At the end of the game who
ever has the most points at the end of the game wins. |
