Hi, my name is Ashley. At the time I conducted this project I was 11 years old and was in the fifth grade at Selah Intermediate School.

There are several reasons I decided to take this opportunity to study all Arizona. First, I wanted to study Arizona because my brothers Steve and Sean live in Arizona and I wanted to learn more about it. The second reason is because I have always wanted to visit there. The third reason is because I am fascinated with the Grand Canyon. The fourth reason is because my mom grew up there and she tells me all the time how fun it was there. The fifth reason I wanted to do my project is because of their history. It goes so far back.

Dedication
I would like to dedicate my project to my brothers, Sean and Steve. They are the ones who inspired me to do my project, because they live in Arizona.

My Family
There are four people in my family.  My mom's name is Glee and she is a home care provider. She is the nicest mom you could have. She is my best friend. My dad's name is Eric and he is a police officer. He is awesome. He is such a nice guy and he cookes or bakes awesome pizza. My brother's name is Dylan and he is in 3rd grade. He can be a brat but I love him just the same. My horses names are Beau, Onix, and Sadona Sky. Beau and Onix are 25+ years old and Sadona Sky is 1 1/2. Beau is the brat, Onix is the sweet one, and Sodona Sky is the cute one. I have Four dogs. There names are Freedom, Sonya, Rabecca, and Bodee. I have alot of fish but i have only names a few. The names of my fish are Bubba, Fluffy, Buttery, Arrow, Oreo, Big Pudge, and Little Pudge. Big Pudge and Little Pudge are exactly the same but the bigger fish eat Little Pudge's fins so Little Pudge only has back fins, but he gets around okay.

My Hobbies and Interests
My favorite thing to do in my spare time is go out and ride or hangout with my horses. I like hang out with my horses and ride them is because if you want to talk to them my horses listen. You can ask them a question and they will anwer your question. If there ears are forward that means yes, if there ears are to the side that means maybe and if there ears are back that means no. I love my horses. I call my horses my niegh-nieghs. I call them that because horses niegh. I also call dogs arf-arfs or bark-barks because they bark.

My Plans for the Future
I plan to work hard in school, getting good grades, especially in high school. I also plan to go to college and study to be a horse trainer or to become a large animal veterinarian. I love animals and I love to do any thing involving animals. I would like to have at least four horses that I raised from birth so I can teach them my way of riding. I would also like to have three to four dogs and two or three cats. For a car I would like a diesel truck so I could haul my horse trailer. I would like to have a big house with a big barn. I would like to eventually have a camp for young kids and teach them to be responsible for horses and teach them how to ride.

The Products I Created
I created three products: a survey, a game board, and a blow-up drawing.

Everyone in class conducted a survey. To create my survey, I thought of some possible questions that have to do with Arizona. Most were factual but one was an opinion question. Next, I typed them on the computer, printed them out, had the teacher check them, and then I fixed my mistakes. I had Mrs. Viernes print 60 copies on color paper. I went to three fifth grade classrooms and conducted the survey. After I collected my data, I counted all of the responses for the boys and then for the girls. I entered these numbers into an Excel spreadsheet and calculated the percentages for the boys and girls. Then I made a graph for each question. I formatted each graph to be readable and colorful.

The second product I did was a blow-up drawing. The first thing I did was find a picture of a map of Arizona on the Internet. Then I had Mrs. Viernes make a transparency of that picture. Then I placed it on an overhead projector. I placed a piece of paper on the white board and focused the transparency. I traced from the transparency. When I was finished tracing on the piece of paper I took a marker and out lined the drawing. Then I took a colored pencil and colored my picture. Then I printed out labels and glued them on my drawing.

The third product I created was a game. The first thing I did was type up 28 questions and answers. Then I picked colors for my game board, question cards, and the squares that go on my game board. I then cut my game board to the right size. Then I cut 8 squares 5 inches by 5 inches. Then I glued a little square on each corners of the board. Then I left a space and then in the middle of the space I put another little square. Then on each of the little squares I glued a label on it. The labels that I used were, “Get lost loose game, You won!, go back to start, get stuck in sand storm lose 5 turns, move back three spaces, start,” and nine’ Draw a card’s. Then I made a title. My title was, “Across the Arizona Desert.” Then I cut out boarders for my questions and answers. Then I glued my questions on one side and my answers on the other.
