Amanda J.

2004

Hi, my name is Amanda. At the time I conducted this project I was 11 years old and was in the fifth grade at Selah Intermediate School.

My Family
There are 4 people in my family.  My mom's name is Colleen and she works at Selah Gym kids, she is kind caring and loves me very much.  My dad's name is Steve he moved out and lives in Naches I still get to se him every other weekend.  My older sister's name is Brittani she is 14 and is in the 8th grade at  Selah Jr. high school.  My brother is 6 and his name is Colton he is finishing kindergarden this week. We all love animals (exept Brittani) so we have 86 pets.

My Hobbies and Interests
My favorite thing to do in my spare time is to ride horses or donkeys.  I also care for  a fare fraction of the pets 55 are mine. they take allot of my spare time. I have two gerbils, one cat, one degu, fifty tad poles (I spent a day counting them)and, one fish.

My Plans for the Future
I plan to finish collage to become a zoo keeper and start my own zoo in Tacoma, Washington.  I love being in Tacoma because I grew up there and I go there often, many of my relatives live there and it is a very nice place, besides they have no zoo.
I also plan to have more, yes I know, more pets than my family does now.

Dedication
I would like to dedicate my project to my grandpa, Tom, my mom, and my dad, because they fill a special place in my heart and always will.

Ever since my grandma went to Australia a strong interest in “the land down under.”  That is why I decided to take this opportunity to study all about Australia.   I hope to teach many kids about this beautiful place.   I believe that it is thought of as just a big boring safari but it is a place that is very interesting.

How I Evaluate My Entire Project
 (1) How thorough and complete was my project?
I think my project was pretty good but I could have done better.  I did do better than last year.  I felt I was behind a little bit of the time but I got back on track.

(2) What would I do differently if starting over again?
I would probably have done Australian wildlife because I enjoyed the wildlife more than the other sub topics.  I am a big fan of exotic animals and Australia has a lot of exotic animals.

(3) What major strengths does my project have?
Definitely the wildlife section it is much better than the other parts of my report.  I also was very good at finding pictures for me and other people.

(4) What weaknesses or problems does my project have?
I am really bad with the history.   I get bored; I really thought I’d do better this year.   I also felt that I didn’t take as many notes as I could or as many as I should have.

(5) What did I learn to do better during this project?
I learned to listen better and Take a lot more notes. I listened because there were a lot of instructions to follow and remember.  I had to take a reasonable amount of notes because it was so much easier with all the notes. I also learned to follow all Mr. Newkirk’s advice.

(6) In what ways did I enjoy my study and work?
I enjoyed my study and work in many ways.  It was a wonderful experience. I also liked to watch the movies I got notes off of.  I liked trying to find room for all the pictures on my display

Who Helped Me With My Project
I would like to thank the following people:
  • My mom for helping me get this far.
  • Mr. Newkirk for correcting my report and helping me understand how to correct it.
  • Mrs. McPherson for letting me interview her class.
  • Mrs. Hostetler for letting me interview her class.
