Basic Definitions

Egypt is a country located in the Middle East. Egypt has existed for thousands of years.  The ancient period was approximately 4000 B.C. to 0 B.C.  Ancient Egypt was an awesome place because they had a different religion than most people in the U.S. today. They thought there was an after life.  Most people in Egypt believed this.  Every day after breakfast lunch and dinner, they said a prayer and it was usually said by all the people in a whole town.

Pharaohs

All of the people in Egypt had to worship Pharaohs and gods.  Scientists still think there are more Pharaohs and gods than we have found.  In the hieroglyphics record, Pharaohs would be hard to find today because so many have already been found.  If people did not worship the Pharaohs then they were to be killed.  Most people did worship the Pharaohs though.

Languages

The Egyptians had an unusual or different way of doing most things, like their language.  Their language was probably the hardest ancient language to understand because of how they wrote.  The Egyptian language is a difficult one to learn, it even took a while for Egyptians to learn.  Egypt worshipped more gods than any other place did.

Artifacts

The artifacts that the Egyptians made are worth so much money today because they were made of gold, diamonds and rubies.  For example, there is a valuable golden bird with some rubies on its wings.  Some old pots are found every day.  They also find mud bricks from houses.  These artifacts give an estimate to archaeologists telling how old houses were.

Mummies

They made mummies by scooping the brain out with a metal pick.  Then they took all of the organs out of the body and stuffed it with natron (natron is a rag that the ancient Egyptians made).  They put the organs in jars and covered the body with natron and let it dry out for forty days.  After forty days, they removed the natron from the inside and took the natron off the body.  Then they would use good smelling oil and paint it on the body.  Then it was time to wrap.  After 2 layers they would tie the arms and legs together and put a page from the book of the dead in his hands.  Then they would wrap two more layers and paint the mummy with oil and paint a picture of Osiris on it.   The page from the book of the dead was for the people that they worshiped or the people who had well known for retrieving gold for the Pharaoh.  For some people they would just take them out to the dessert and leave them there.

Who I Interviewed And What I Learned
I interviewed Prof. Scott Noegel over the phone.  He told about his interest in Egypt and answered questions.  He is an expert because he has taken many classes and has studied Egypt before.  Prof. Scott Noegel is president of a research lab in Egypt.  He answered all of my questions and he told me all about Egypt.  When we got to the last question which was, what do you predict for the future of Egypt?  He replied "I" do not care to speculate about anything.  Then we both said good-bye.
