Architects

Architects are people who design buildings like skyscrapers, houses, hotels, and their surroundings. Architects who plan the area surrounding buildings are called landscape architects. There are Architects who plan new designs and build models to prove the design will look good and work well.  Other architects actually construct buildings.

What They Do

Architects design and create. They make drawings and plans on paper, on the computer and using models.  They help construct buildings both small and huge, like skyscrapers, hospitals, or hotels.  Sometimes they help remodel or add onto houses and other buildings instead of building something entirely new.
Education

Architects have to go through a lot of education. Architects have to go to 5 or 6 years of schooling in college.  They have to understand math very well. After architects go through that much education they are really experts. Some are meant to build because of their test scores, and some are meant to build because it is what they love to do.

History

In architecture things have changed. A long time ago we didn’t have computers so they had to write everything by hand and draw on paper.  In the past there was a famous architect named Frank Lloyd Wright he was practically the best architect who ever lived. When Frank was a little kid he always dreamed about being an architect. He built more and more buildings one after another. Frank started building arches and became the best architect who ever lived.  He built a really great Chinese building. It was so great that once there was a huge earthquake and the only building standing was that Chinese building Frank made. Frank kept on building and getting more and more famous but he didn’t care about the money. All he cared about was building. Finally when he was 96 years old he decided to retire.

A long time ago there was no such thing as buildings instead there would be little huts or things that would get knocked down. The Romans were actually the first ones who made buildings out of concrete. For centuries architects have been building more and more buildings that are becoming ancient every year.

Earnings

Architects get $ 40,000 dollars or $ 50,000 dollars a year because they work about two months. On just one house. and for that they get quite a bit of money. They probably get $70,000 dollars a year for the type of buildings they make because they have to plan it work on how and where the building is going to be.

Architects have to be very creative because they must design buildings. They sometimes build houses that are alike. They build duplexes apartments. Architects have to express themselves. They can’t just keep the idea to themselves or they will never get to see what’s wrong with it or if it is a good idea or if it needs something more, something more detailed. That’s why architects need to share ideas.  Architects usually work in their office or on computers. Some just build models of houses or motels.  Sometimes architects get ideas from other houses like the white house or mansions or even small houses.

Who I Interviewed And What I Learned

I interviewed Barbara Cline on January 23, 2003 at TRAHO ARCHITECTS I chose her because she is building my new church. I learned a lot of information from her. She said building a house is very slow you need location and planning, preliminary sketches .Drawing of the exterior and interior, put drawings in the computer and make a model then start building the building. She has been in this corporation for 24 years! She went through 5 years of college and likes a lot of building materials she said in recent years technology has changed a lot for one thing I agree with her. She knew a famous architect named Frank Lloyd right he was a very good man. When Barbra was a little she loved to do crafts she would make things all the time. I‘m glad I chose her. I’m really glad.
