Camdon A.

2003

Hi, my name is Camdon. At the time I conducted this project I was 11 years old and was in the fifth grade at Selah Intermediate School.

The Products I Created

I created a survey for one of my products. To make the survey I first found 4-6 questions that I could ask a child from age 9-15 without it being too hard or easy. So I came up with these 5 questions but Mr. Newkirk made the first one; What is your gender? Are you interested in carpentry as a career? Which of The Following are Related to Carpentry? Which of the Following is Related to Carpentry?

To build my model house I had to find my scale. Then after doing that I cut the wood to the right lengths and dimensions. With all the studs and top and bottom plates cut, I started gluing it together. The studs are set every 2 inches or 2 foot scale. Everywhere a wall hooks into the main frame or another wall there are 3 studs forming a U shape. In those there is one stud parallel to the wall and 2 perpendicular to it. When all the walls were up I started cutting poster board for the walls. I cut them to size after I had measured the length of each of the walls.

My Family
In my family there are 7 kids. I am the baby. First there is Hank then, J.C., Justin, Wendy, Beckey, Nichole, then me. All of them are married except Wendy, Nichole, and me. Their ages are 29, 28, 28, 25, 23, 16. My dads name is Alan. he is a physical therapist. My dad loves to coach any sport I play but mostly just baseball. My mom works at Costco. She usually works the door. She likes to stamp and watch my baseball games on the days she has off. When she isn't doing that she is usually doing yard work.

My Hobbies and Interests
Most of my hobbies are sports but some aren't. I love to play baseball as a pitcher and a short stop. I play for the Dodgers. I also play basketball. I played for the Selah 6th grade AAU Vikings. I played as a wing and a post. Other hobbies I have are skateboarding, biking, and ATVing.

My Plans for the Future
In the future I plan to become a carpenter or if that doesn't work out I plan to become a architect. Brfore I can become a architect I have to take 4 years of college so I plan to go to B.Y.U.. Before I do any of this if I am any good in high school I might try to become a pro baseball player for a few years.

Dedication
I would like to dedicate my project to my parents and brother, Justin, because I have always looked up to them.

Why I Chose This Topic
Ever since I was 8 years old, I've had a strong interest in carpentry and I guess that is because my brother is a carpenter and my dad does lots of wood working. That is why I decided to take this opportunity to study all about carpentry.

How I Evaluate My Entire Project

(1) How thorough and complete was my project?
My project was not all the way thorough and completely done because I had a hard time finishing things after I had started them

(2) What would I do differently if starting over again?
If I started over again I think I would work harder from the beginning and take more of Mr. Newkirk’s advice because it would help me to get done faster.

(3) What major strengths does my project have?
One major strength my project has is the information on the different kinds of carpentry and the information on their pay scale.

(4) What weaknesses or problems does my project have?
One weakness I had was the fact that I had a hard time finishing my buzzer board after I had started it.

(5) What did I learn to do better during this project?
During this project I learned to work harder and more thoroughly so that I could get my work done faster.

(6) In what ways did I enjoy my study and work?
I enjoyed my work and study because I knew that I could make my model house for one of my projects.
