Baylee                            Whitney
2003

Hi, my name is Baylee. At the time I conducted this project I was 10 years old and was in the fifth grade at Selah Intermediate School.

The Products I Created
1. The first product I created was a survey. I wrote questions and then printed them of on blue paper. I went to Mrs. Stern’s, Mrs. Honey’s, Mrs. Snodgrass’s and Mr. Johnson’s fifth grade class- room. Then I counted how many answers of each question I had. Then I put it on to my computer. After I had finished that I made several graphs on the computer. I made the boys green and the girls blue.
2. The second product I made was a buzzer board. For my buzzer board I typed definitions and their words, the words had to do with Disc Jockeys. Then I used hot pink as the background and then I made my board a black circle like a Disc. I put the words and definitions onto the circle. Then I used foil to make it so when you touch one word and its right definition you will hear a buzzing sound.
3. Next I made a pamphlet. For my pamphlet I made a crossword puzzle. Also I made it so you can unscramble a word then you match it with its definition. I also have meanings to read.
4. For my game board I made a wheel and put it on a piece of tag board. I used extra strips of tag board to make loops and a way around the board. My extra pieces of tag board were green and yellow. The big tag board was blue and the wheel is black.
5. Next I made a comic strip. For my comic strip my friend and I recorded our voices and so it sounded like the comic strip was us talking. I drew little squares to draw scenes in 8 squares.

My Family
My family consists of mom, Velvet. My mom is a nurse. My sister Brittany is in the 11th grade and is very hard to cope with.

I have 2 other sisters named Taylor and Emma. I have 2 brothers named Derek and Justin Tyler, J.T for short. I have a step mom and her name is Karen. Taylor and Emma are both in dance just like me. My Plans for the Future
In the future I want to become either a Fashion designer or a Disc jockey because I think both jobs would be a lot of hard work but it would be fun. In high school I want to get all straight A's. I also want to attend the Washington State University. I want to graduate there with a four year college degree.

Dedication
I would like to dedicate my project to Mom, because she has always encouraged me to do my best ever since I have been very little. I would also like to dedicate this to my sister, Brittany, because she listens to the radio a lot.

Why I Chose This Topic
Ever since I was 8, I've had a strong interest in disc jockeys.  That is why I decided to take this opportunity to study all about disc jockeys because it sounds like fun. By the end of this year I would like to have an six page report.

How I Evaluate My Entire Project
1) How thorough and complete was my project?
I think that my project was very well done but I could have had more information. I also could have had more about the history of Disc Jockeys and about Radio because I think that if I would have had a lot of history information my project would have been more informative.

2) What would I do differently if starting over again?
The thing I would do differently is that I would have interviewed 2 people because then my board would have looked fuller and it would mean that I had done more work so that’s what I should have done differently.

3) What major strengths does my project have?
The major strengths my project has is that I have a lot of products. I also think that my survey graphs are very well done and that the information is really good.

4) What weaknesses or problems does my project have?
The weaknesses that my project has are that my colors didn’t match and that my buzzer board is not a perfect circle so it looks a little tacky.

5) What did I learn to do better during this project?
The thing I learned from doing this project is that’s it’s okay to take risks. What I mean by that is that if you don’t like something just take a risk and maybe it will look good when it gets onto your board.

6) In what ways did I enjoy my study and work?
I liked this report because I got to interview Ron and Todd from KATS. I also liked this project because it was a lot of fun to make the products and put my board together.

Who Helped Me With My Project
I would like to thank the following people; Ms. Sterns, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Honey-Porter, Mrs. Snodgrass and all of their classes for taking my survey. I would also like to thank Ron and Todd for letting me take pictures to put on my display board. I would like to thank my mom because she took me to KATS 3 times. I would like to thank Mr. Newkirk and Mrs. Helms for helping me with my products and my report. I would also like to thank Ron and Todd from KATS because they are really nice and let me go into their office and their station and they showed be around.
