A Singer
A singer is a person who sings for fun or for a career. They need to study music throughout their college or school years.  Most training would involve playing an instrument such as a piano or flute.

 Singers’ Schedules
Every singer has a different schedule. A singer for commercials would sing in the day, and rest or do another job at night. Some teach singing classes during the fall, and then do their career, (singing) during the rest of the year.

Where They Work and Why
Singers work in studios and in cold rooms where there usually is a lot of noise. They work in cold rooms because they usually get really hot when they practice. They work in loud areas because that will make their voices rise above all the noise.

Kinds of Singers
Some kinds of singers are classical singers, pop singers, jazz singers, and opera singers. The classical singers get paid the most.

Materials
Materials singers use are microphones, a music sheet, specific devices in a studio, a recorder, and make-up.

Good Things About Their Job
Some good things about singing are the glamorous effects of the make up and the costume. If you are really good you get paid a lot of money.

Not so Good things about Their Job
Some not so good things about singing are there is a lot of competition against others and there is low pay if you’re not so good.

Subjects to Study in High School
Some good subjects to study in high school are English, psychology, speech, literature, math, social studies, history, physical science, physical education and art. Those are some of the really good classes to take.

Classical soloists get paid, $2000.00 - $3000.00 per performance, singers in the chorus get paid $70.00.
Rock singers get paid, $10,000.00 per performance if they are really, really good, if they aren’t they don’t get paid much.

How it is Recommended To Start a Singing Career
There is no correct way to start a singing career, but it is recommended to apply and audition for whatever suits you in the way of singing.
The advancement might be starting in a chorus and then ending up as the lead singer.

Who I Interviewed And What I Learned
I interviewed Kelly Lee Kunz about singers. Mr. Kunz is a high school music teacher and is in a band.
He told me that he had been singing since he was seven years old.
He didn’t go to a singing college like some might think. He went to a regular college.  He also told me that no special schooling is required to be a talented singer. He said that most people try to sound like someone, such as Brittany Spears, Nsync, and other popular music bands. You should always try to sound unique when you sing. " When you get to a high level in music, the competition gets tougher,"
says Kelly.  He said that he wouldn’t quit singing even if he got paid very little money.
