Responsibilities
Photographers are workers who take pictures of people, places, or things. They have to arrange objects to give them a good photo. They have to take, develop, and print photographs. All the different kinds of photographers take pictures of different things.

Different kinds
Portrait photographers take pictures of people, indoor or outdoor, trying to get a good photo of the person. Commercial and Industrial photographers work for businesses, taking photographs of toys, food, and other produces, that may be put in catalogs, magazines, or on a billboard. Photojournalists work for newspapers and magazines. They take pictures of people, places, or events.
Forensic photographers work mainly for police departments. They photograph crime scenes and accidents, also victims and their wounds. Medical and Scientific photographers take pictures for research journals or textbooks that may show all the steps of a medical process.

Schedule
Photographers usually choose their own schedules. Photojournalists, however, have to be available whenever there is a story to cover.

Tools
The tools that photographers use are special cameras and lenses, film, tripods, lights, and objects to make their photographs more interesting.

Good and Bad Things
The good things about being a photographer are choosing your own schedule, and having a job that allows you to express your creativity.
Still picture photographers have both a challenge and an opportunity from digital photography. Digital can offer some better pictures and change the way people look on computers, and still picture cant offer that. Photographers do not have to have a license.

High School Classes
High school classes to take if you want to become a photographer are journalism, math, social studies, chemistry, general business, and physics.

Earnings and Outlook
In Washington, there are about 3,000 photographers.
The U .S. earnings for photographers are between $24,800 and $37,200,

History
In about 1500 AD the first camera was made. The camera (called an obscura, which means dark camber) was big enough to fit a person inside it.
Joseph Niepce was the first to take and print a photograph with the huge camera. In the 1830’s Louis Daguerre perfected Joseph’s way of developing. Mathew Brandy and other photographers made taking pictures for the news possible in the mid 1800’s. Later, in 1888, the Kodak camera was made, and picture taking was said to be made easy. Now anyone could take a picture instead of just the people skilled enough to use expensive equipment.

Personal Skills
Photographers need some personal skills also, like being artistic, and being able to communicate ideas.
Some related jobs to photographers are, some architects; artists; designers; and camera operators. Training is not required, but to get a well paying job you would probably need at least a course at the Yakima Community College. You can learn without training, but most people who hire photographers would rather you had some. The advancement for photographers is to become well known, which means to have more customers.

Who I Interviewed And What I Learned
In January I interviewed Rick Baumgardner at Photo Haus. He told me he was a chief executive officer, a portrait photographer, and a commercial photographer. He was a good choice for my interview because he has been a professional photographer for many years. Mr. Baumgardner showed me where he takes pictures, and where he made frames for them. He told me that film used to be very big and got smaller over the years. What he thought was good about the job was you got to choose your own schedule, and didn't have to work when you don't want to. When I asked him what had changed the most about cameras in recent years, he said film and digital had come along way. I want to thank him for his time and information.
