American Pioneers

"Pioneer-One who ventures into unknown or unclaimed territory."-The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language.

Pioneers were mostly families who settled in new places, normally traveling by covered wagon. The period lasted from 1839-1869, when the Continental Railroad was finished.
